Text: Acts 4:32-37

MAIN IDEA: Living under the influence of the Holy Spirit enables effective fellowship and the proclamation of the gospel.

OBJECTIVE:

To challenge believers to grow the church by promoting effective fellowship and proclamation of the gospel

Introduction

The coming of the Holy Spirit upon the church brought about a remarkable difference in the life of the Church. The Bible admonishes us in Ephesians 5:18 that we should not be drunk with wine but with the Holy Spirit. There are two types of influence mentioned here – alcohol and the Holy Spirit. However, while alcohol influences a man to misbehave (You can imagine a man or a driver under the influence of alcohol or wine), the Holy Spirit influences us to do the right things – to achieve feats we cannot achieve on our own.  God wants us to be influenced by His Holy Spirit.

Once the Holy Spirit possesses a man, it influences the man and everything about Him. This was the condition of the early church. The Holy Spirit influenced their fellowship and the proclamation of the gospel. So, this morning, we are considering Living Under The Influence of the Holy Spirit.

Living under the influence of the Holy Spirit enables:

  1. EFFECTIVE FELLOWSHIP. V.32
    1. Effective fellowship requires unity. V32a
    2. Effective fellowship requires mutual sharing: vv.32b.

  1. HE CHURCH FOR POWRFUL PROCLAMATION. V. 33
    1. Power to attest to the resurrection of the Lord.
    2. God’s Grace was upon them all
  2. THE CHURCH FOR POWRFUL LOVE. V. 34 – 37

Conclusion

When we do ministry under the influence of the Holy Spirit, it will always attract people to God and to church, I challenge you to be fervent in the fellowship and in the proclamation of the gospel. God will use you to bring many to the church and his kingdom.
